As most people do between Christmas and New Years, I want to look back at the last year and reflect. 2013 was the first complete year of The Counseling Geek blog, the first time meeting many of the great blogging buddies from across the US at ASCA 2013, and an opening to many cool opportunities (including presenting at ASCA 2014 and joining my state counseling association board).

Since the inception a year and a half ago, the blog has got at least 53,000 visits from 10+ countries, been honored by several different websites, and appeared in School Counselor magazine. Crazy to see how a marketing idea for a job (which I got!) turned into opportunities that have grown exponentially. I have been able to make many new friends, networking connections, and colleagues – plus access the best PLN I know of.

Posts and social media activity have slowed some for me – with the fall being pretty busy at school and our new dog in the house. In 2014, I plan to improve resource posting through more video blogs, tech tools I have learned about in the last few months, tutorials for skills school counselors can use at school, and I hope to launch a new Udemy course for school counselors for summer 2014. Stay tuned for that.

Thank you all for supporting the blog and reading some of the thoughts I have. I hope it is helpful to you because writing them down definitely helps me. Very Merry Christmas and Happy 2014 – may it be a good one for you!
