Useful and Beautiful
A Simple Guide to School Counseling WebsitesYour digital face matters!
Hop on just about any school counseling department’s website and take a look around. 9 times out of 10 – the website looks like it is straight from the turn of the millennium. It also happens to be about as useful. Luckily for you – there are some really easy and FREE tools out there to make your school counseling websites both useful AND beautiful. Check out the video below to learn about how to quickly and easily setup a new website using Weebly.com.
My school counseling website (nthscounseling.weebly.com) is built on Weebly and really didn’t take all that long. Other websites are available too if Weebly is not your bag of tricks. Wix.com is another great tool as is the free version of WordPress (this is a little more complex though). This website is built on the non-free version of WordPress.
As always – please check with your IT, PR, or Admin before putting a new website in place to ensure it fits within current policy. I don’t want to be encouraging any rebels.
Lastly – if you have redesigned your website or have a beautiful website – share your link in the comments. I love to look (and potentially borrow) ideas, inspiration or tools. Share the wealth and help another colleague out!

I am always looking for ways to make our website more user friendly and relevant for students and parents. What site do you use for your scheduling appointments link on your site Jeff?
My site is at http://www.rhsschoolcounseling.weebly.com if you want to check it out
I use scheduleonce for my appointments and love it. Here is a post I wrote about it in: https://www.thecounselinggeek.com/2015/11/school-counselor-appointment-management.html
Here is a link to mine…this is years’ worth of work…http://bmscounselorscorner.weebly.com/
Looks great! Thanks for sharing!
My colleague and I “stole” your website a few months ago. Our district introduced a new website last summer that left me little functionality or creativeness. It was so locked down that my husband, a programmer, made some changes and it automatically reverted back to the default settings. Uggh. We were also looking to modernize, not just the look of our site, but the information we provided. So, I looked to weebly and hunted down school counseling sites. This led me to your school site and well, the theft began. Weebly is super easy to work with. We have, of course, personalized our site with things related to our school. Check us out http://counselingatlakeland.weebly.com/ Did I mention that we moved to Schedule Once too????
It’s borrowing of ideas – if we cannot share with each other, what have we become? I “borrowed” some of mine too!
I made my online portfolio on Weebly and loved it! http://amylwheeler.weebly.com/
What a very cool idea! Do you worry though about putting all that info out in public?
Wonderful site Laurie – a great example! Thanks for sharing.
