Turning it over to The Counseling Geek readers…
As of late, I have been getting many requests from parents of my students asking to connect with me via LinkedIn. For those thinking “…LinkedWHAT?” – I had a guest post a while back that covers a little you can read here and I have some plans to do a series of posts regarding LinkedIn and it’s benefits to School Counselors.
But what I really want out of this post is for those school counselors and employees that do use LinkedIn to connect with other professionals – do you or would you connect via LinkedIn with parents of your students? Please sound off in the comments below and also answer the quick poll below. I want an idea of how many readers use LinkedIn already. Looking forward to your responses! Oh yea – and I do love to connect with other counseling professionals!! Check out my profile by clicking the button!

Thanks for this post, Jeff. I believe LinkedIn is an untapped resource and question why that is. Perhaps it is that more time must be spent in looking at posts than other social media sites. We are in the process of developing a LinkedIn group for graduates of our School Counseling program in the hopes that it will keep them connected beyond graduation and sharing job openings.
It is used in other industries for job hunts – education is in the dark ages regarding job hunting and rules regarding positions.
