Be Data Inspired: Using EzAnalyze TimeTracker to Track School Counseling Time Allocation

Using your time wisely.

A major component and influential piece of advocating effectively for your school counseling program and kids is showing how and where your time is spent. There are a few different ways that I know people track there time – from Google Drive Forms, School Counselor Central, and SCUTA Pro to old school pen and paper – I use a free and, what I see as, user-friendly tool called EzAnalyze TimeTracker.

Free School Counseling Group Curriculum – Academic Success Groups

Free School Counseling Group Curriculum – Academic Success Groups

After several requests – I decided to post a curriculum I patched together to the blog. At the beginning of the school year, following ASCA 2015, I made a personal goal to run some groups this year. One of our major school wide goals was to decrease the D and F list (and thereby helping to improve the number of students meeting the CSU/UC A-G Requirements) so my group is designed to be a short term, academically focused intervention. I chose the time frame of four weeks because it fits within our progress report window. Using data from our D/F list for the first progress report – I just completed the first group last week, as of the date of this post.

All About The “1 to 2” – A School Wide Program Focused on Studying

All About The “1 to 2” – A School Wide Program Focused on Studying

One of the number one skills I see high school students struggle with is the great mystery of studying. A constant comment I get is “…but I am done with my homework!”. In high school – some students can get by with minimal studying efforts – I was one of these students myself. However, I also know from firsthand experience that the collegiate expectations are completely different. I was smacked in the face with the expectation that I study between 25-35 hours per week. This is where the “1 to 2” campaign comes in. I hope you read through and download some of the materials below!

Take Back Time with Gmail’s Canned Responses – School Counseling Video Blog

If your day is anything like my day in the school counseling office – you answer tons of emails. Many emails sound oddly similar too. I get many emails each day requesting meetings and appointments, a schedule change, a transcript, etc. I am sure you do too. Typing out each reply is a waste of time and finger stamina. Thank goodness someone at Google had that thought too and created a super simple but mega-powerful Gmail Labs tool – Canned Responses.

I created a 5 minute screen share video to quickly go from zero to canned response guru and taking minutes of your day back with each email.
